Epson expands reach through Incredible Connection

Johannesburg, 19 Apr 2012
Epson wants to make its range more accessible to local consumers, says the company's Kelvin Reynolds.
Epson has announced that Incredible Connection has become its principal mass retail partner in SA, in a move that will make Epson's business and consumer inkjet printers available through Incredible Connection stores.

According to the companies, Epson products will be available from Incredible Connection stores throughout the country from 26 April.
Kelvin Reynolds, GM of Epson SA, says the company recently expanded its range of consumer and business printers, adding that Epson would like to make its range more accessible to local consumers.

Stefan Marnewick, acting CEO of Incredible Connection, says Epson's product range is aligned with his company's customer profile.
According to Epson, the first products to be available through Incredible Connection include its compact colour printers, small and home office all-in-one printers, and multifunctional business inkjet printers. A full range of consumables and media for these devices will also be available.

Moreover, a selection of Epson's home cinema and business projectors, as well as its entry-level business laser printers, will be introduced through this channel at a later stage.
Epson says it will continue its relationships with the independent retail channel, where its partners include Trink, Computer Chaos and Park Avenue Stationers, as well as partners of Office Active and Office National. Matrix Warehouse will remain Epson's national franchiser. “We will definitely continue to partner with the regional retail channel,” the company says.
Steven Ambrose, MD of Strategy Worx, believes the partnership with Incredible Connection will increase awareness of Epson products. He points out that a good proportion of consumers and small to medium-sized enterprises do their shopping at Incredible Connection.

“The printing market is fiercely competitive, with price and features the key differentiators,” says Ambrose. He adds that HP has been dominant in the local market and Epson needs to promote its brand as a viable alternative.

Epson says it will also share the benefits of its global sponsorship of British football team Manchester United with Incredible Connection customers. This will be done through a series of competitions, with prizes including a trip for two to attend a Manchester United football match at the Old Trafford football ground.

“Any customer purchasing an Epson product, whether it's a printer, projector, or ink or toner cartridge, is eligible to enter the competitions that we'll be running over the course of the year,” says Reynolds

Algoa Bay Council for the Aged is a registered non-profit organisation with PBO status providing a diversity of essential services to older persons and those with similar needs in the community of the Eastern Cape . These services are geared towards promoting independence and empowering older persons to lead meaningful and fulfilled lives. Said services address the needs of older persons and other vulnerable adults with similar needs. This is especially those who don’t qualify for frail care and are exposed to neglect and abuse. Our programmes and projects are  structured in such a way that older persons are kept active and independent in the community despite  financial circumstances, advanced age and/or lack of family support.

We focus mainly on those older folk who survive on a state pension of R1010 per month and those elderly whose financial circumstances are further  exacerbated by the fact that they have little or no family support we provide them with alternatives to frail care and institutionalisation.

Trink Group Holdings (Pty) Ltd have been and still are instrumental in making a difference in the lives of our elderly beneficiaries.

In June 2009 they donated a  computer for utilization by our Auxiliary Worker who is responsible for fetching and delivering chronic medication to old folk from two of our facilities and our three service centres. This service negates the long waiting in hospital waiting rooms and chemists for monthly meds. She currently has more than 200 older persons on her books and has to keep track of their appointments, scripts and meds.

She also supervises Home Help and Home Based Care that are only two of the many projects that keep older persons and vulnerable adults active and independent and in the community.

Home Help is a project that provides assistance in the home with tasks that due to their advanced age old folk cannot perform anymore. A measure of assistance can make all the difference to an older person remaining on in their own home in the community. During the last financial year 71 homes were cleaned during 253 sessions.

Assistance with Home Based Care and in particular sponsored Home Based Care has kept many an older person on in their own home despite their degree of frailty.

The new computer made it possible to establish a database and to keep track of the needs and services provided to the older persons on our books and has made a significant difference in all of their  lives. And since the home based care project is dual pronged we were able to keep a database of previously disadvantaged Home Based Carers who have benefitted from the home based care project through gainful employment.

Currently the Trink Group are assisting by being the major sponsor in our  annual Celebrity Golf Classic where companies play golf with celebrities in order to raise funds for the older persons described above. Their generosity has made it possible for Algoa Bay Council for the Aged to host this event for the 12th time.

The Trink Group’s  involvement has attracted celebrities like Titch Moore SA Golf PRO, Rob Louw, Anton Barnard, Robbie Blair and Rudie (Vleis) Visagie, all of SA Rugby Fame as well as the stunning Tammy-Anne Fortuin host and producer of Roer on Kyk-Net and All Access on M-Net.

Algoa Bay Council for the Aged and their 5000+ elderly beneficiaries are indeed truly fortunate and very blessed to have been selected as CSI Partners of the Trink Group.
